Italian Islands

Italy’s islands, honestly reviewed.

Editorial policy

Italian Islands is independently owned. No hotel operator, ferry company, tour operator or tourism board has editorial control over anything we publish. This page sets out how we work.

Independence.

We accept affiliate revenue from Booking.com, Hotels.com / Expedia, Airbnb, GetYourGuide, Viator, Direct Ferries and Ferryhopper. We do not accept payment for rankings or reviews. A hotel’s inclusion in a roundup is not for sale. A ferry route’s presence in our index is not for sale. If you spot something that looks like paid placement, tell us: contact.

How we recommend hotels.

We visit where budget allows, interview management, cross-check against verified guest reviews (Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Google), and cite three to five specific reasons for every ranking. Every review has a “what could be better” section. Every roundup names alternatives at the same price band. Read our full methodology.

Corrections.

If we get something wrong, tell us and we will fix it, dated at the bottom of the affected page. Ferry timetables in particular change without much notice; we timestamp every ferry page with its last review date.

Italian names and diacritics.

Body copy renders Italian names with correct diacritics: Cefalù, Sant’Andrea, Nero d’Avola, Costa Smeralda, Pantelleria. On first mention in a page we include an English pronunciation guide in parentheses. URL slugs are romanised for compatibility (cefalu, sant-andrea, costa-smeralda).
